This CUTENESS is why I haven't been blogging!

This

Cuteness

Is

Why

I

Haven't

Been

Blogging!

This is my 4 month old granddaughter, Isla (Eye-La) Rose. Our first granddaughter and we have been having so much fun with her. My daughter asked me to make a sun-suit for her 4 month professional pictures. She found a pattern on Etsy and picked out the fabric.

I have been sewing for 49 years...since I was 8, but have not made a baby

How I Solved Problems with My Curtain/Windows

The Dilemma:

First, since a man built this house, he didn't realize the issues with putting a window directly in the corner against a wall.

Plus, with it being a window seat, there is no head room for curtains to be installed inside the recessed area!

And, there are two identical windows on opposing walls in this living room.

After much thought, I custom ordered cellular blinds that I

Cuteness!

I love expressing myself

through creative ways

as many other bloggers

do.

It doesn't take much to

get my mind flowing

with ideas.

I have a friend who's

birthday was coming up

and I decided on

something pretty

and useful...

Using a vintage wooden hanger I made a 'dress' from a drop cloth.

Then added vintage lace and a doily as the apron for the cutest clothespin bag

It's a Girl!

It seems that

I have been buried

this winter with

living and breathing

Baby Girl stuff!

You see, my daughter is having our first granddaughter in April...

And I have been working and having fun, making and planning the cutest and pinkest baby shower!

I bought these invitations at Hobby Lobby. They already had the ribbon and "It's a Girl" on them, so all I had to do was design

No Cost Decorating ~ Switcheroo!

I have put

much thought

in the ridiculous

amount of pillows

that I have to

put on and remove

every day when

I make the bed then

prepare it for sleeping!

I
HAD
to
make
a
change!

Yes, it looks lovely in it's presentation, but I needed to simplify my pillow life! I ending up doing a switcheroo!

As you can see, in the above picture of the master bedroom, I have 10 pillows on my bed

Homemade Wool Sweater Purse

It's a great project

to make if you can

Dream

and

Sew!

I took a wool sweater from the thrift store and combined it with some ticking stripe and some gray fabric and made it into a really great new purse. This is not a tutorial, but just showing you the details of the bag.

I first washed and dryed the wool sweater to 'felt' it (make it shrink) for a tighter weave. I designed this in

LivingRoom Winter Decor!

I don't mind taking down Christmas decorations because I have so much winter decor to put in it's place!
This year I made this felt snowflake pillow...

Just by adding old buttons and ball trim made it the cutest pillow on the couch!

I found these small skates at a vintage and decor shop.

And an old wooden bowl of faux snowballs compliments the theme.

Add my bit of primitive, and

Christmas Tree Banner & Stocking

While decorating my main Christmas Tree this year, I chose to go red and natural...

Natural by adding Quail

A twig Star

And I made this cloth banner...

On a trip to Kansas City, we stopped by Nell Hill's, a fabulous decor and furniture store like no other! The prices are great too! I picked up a yard of this fabric...

Not knowing what I was going to do with it, I put it

The Cutest Wool Trees

One of the favorite things
that I do every year
to get myself in the
Spirit of Christmas
is go to an Open House at a local natural crafts store called
Ohio Street Originals.

This post is not about this store (but you can see an old post I did on that store HERE)

What this post is about are the fun and adorable little wool trees that I discovered there and how to make them!

I purchased

Ticking In Time for Christmas

As my mind was

dreaming up

a new way to display

my Christmas decor

(It's boring if it's put up the same way every year, don't you think?)

I decided that I needed

a new runner

for my buffet...

I had picked up some black and white ticking for another project that I didn't end up using it for, so this fabric was available in my stash to use.

I wanted to have it hang

Feed Sack Clothes Pin Holder

I have been hanging on to the feed sack for a while. I thought it looked interesting and my son's last name is Kelly. In the back of my mind, I was going to make it into a pillow for my DIL (Daughter-In-Law) but she hates throw pillows! Is that even possible?

But when we were visiting this summer, she was hanging clothes out on the line and didn't have a clothes pin holder to use! BINGO! I

Tutorial on Making Wool Pumpkins

I haven't done a tutorial in a very long time and just made these cute little pumpkins out of an old wool sweater and thought that you would maybe want to how I made them!

First, you need to find a wool sweater. I found a pure white one at the thrift store.  I then washed it and dried it in the dryer so it would 'felt' and shrink. This gives the wool and different look and feel.

I then

Update on my MacKenzie Childs style guest bedroom!

If you are wondering what I mean with this title, then you missed this post HERE!

In that previous post I give you a tour of my newly decorated MC styled guest bedroom.

I also talked about how these lovely Matelasse coverlets are too short and I needed to come up with a solution so solve this dilemma. A bigger size was too big, so here is my solution...

I made and sewed a black

Another Painted Fabric Chair!

 I am so excited

 to share with you

 another one of my

 half painted fabric

 and half upholstered chair!

I bought this chair from a good friend of mine. She had painted the wood and caning white, but I repainted it to be less distressed than what she had. This is what it looked like at that point...

I used it in my Green Toile guest bedroom because the green

My MacKenzie Childs Inspired Guest Bedroom!

I said that our house is finally considered complete.
Warning...loads of pictures below!!!!!!!

No more major tear up jobs that require my young-and-cute-handy-dandy-handyman being here, but I did enjoy him here and the process every time. However, it will never be complete as far as changing decor and decorating! You know how that goes. I thought I would spend more time just enjoying the fact

Feedsack Wreath!

I have been inspired by seeing my friends burlap flowers and another's wreath on a blog.

So I thought I would give it a try...

Here is my finished
   Feedsack & Burlap Wreath!

I started with making this flower by layering, from the bottom up, white burlap, vintage lace, brown burlap, more lace, and then I added a rhinestone butterfly pin in the center.

For the wreath, I

Changes & Opportunity for U!

This guest bedroom has been one of my all time popular posts, but with all things in my life, change is happening because of this...

I fell in love with this Hobby Lobby fabric and since I have been sewing for over 45 years, when I get a whim to do something different, nothing usually stops me.

This fabric plays well off my key green pieces in this room...the chair and the

It's All In The Family

This post is being written from my heart to my son.
                      This is about his family,
                                                 his ties,
                                                          his family history.

And...
            It's about these quilt blocks!

Back in 1981, when I was pregnant with my son, my husband's Grandmother, Eva Jackson Kelly asked me to

It's all about the DeTaiLs ~ Chair!

Chair Back

It truly is

All about the details

Especially when you

Are talking about

THIS CHAIR!

Here is the chair Before I got my hands on it. It really needed some love, don't you think?

First, I must tell you that I am self taught when it comes to upholstery. I thought I had a picture of this chair in the 'naked' state of wood but can't find it :(

Second, I watched

Edgar's Bed!

This story is pure Kismet.

Here's my story as it happened!

In our new hobby garage, we have an attic storage space above with a drop down ladder.

I was up there selecting furniture to bring down to paint.

As I was stacking things up for Hubby to help carry down, I stacked an old vintage leather suitcase on top of this...

I noticed that the suitcase fit the top of this stool base
